Demolition and Outbuilding Removal in Taylors, SC
Taylors is twenty-three thousand people without a town hall, most of them in subdivisions that were already built out by the 1980s. The workshops, carports and decks on those half-acre lots are reaching the end of their lives together. Jordan takes them apart, loads the trailer and leaves the ground level.
Demolition in Taylors
Half-acre lots and buildings older than their owners
Taylors is the northeast side of Greenville along Wade Hampton Boulevard, with the Enoree River running through it. It was a resort at Chick Springs before it was a mill community around the Southern Bleachery, and then it became subdivisions. The census counted nearly 16,000 people here in 1980 and over 23,000 in 2020, so most of the housing is established.
That is the shape of the demolition work. Not farms being split, but a 1970s lot where the detached garage has a sagging roof, the workshop the last owner built has termites, and the deck was added before anyone used joist hangers.
Detached garages and workshops
A detached garage is the common one in Taylors. Stick-built, on a slab, often with power and sometimes a water line to a sink. Jordan takes the roof down first, then the walls, loading with the grapple on the mini track loader as he goes so nothing piles up where he has to work.
Then the slab. Garage slabs here tend to have a thickened edge and a bit of wire in them, which the hydraulic breaker handles. Everything goes on the trailer, sorted into metal, wood and concrete, and the ground is left ready for whatever is next.
Enoree bottoms and ridge clay
Taylors has two kinds of ground. Along the Enoree and the creeks that feed it, lots sit low and stay damp, and some are in the mapped floodplain, which can limit how a hole is filled. Up on the ridges between them, it is the usual Piedmont red clay: firm, well drained until it is disturbed, then slow to take water again.
Either way the last step is the same. The void where the slab was is filled in layers and compacted, and the surface is shaped so rain runs away from the house. If the yard already pools, yard drainage in Taylors fixes that on the same visit.
Greenville County's demolition permit
With no town government, permits in Taylors come from Greenville County Building Safety at County Square, 301 University Ridge in Greenville. The county has a residential demolition permit application, and it asks for documentation from Piedmont Natural Gas with it, so a garage with a gas heater needs that sorted first.
Separately, SC811 marks buried public lines before any breaking or digging. South Carolina law requires the notice, and the locate takes three working days. The private wire or pipe from the house to the garage is not marked, so point out what you know.
The patio, the walk and the stump on the same trip
Taylors is one of the longer runs from Tryon, so it pays to do everything at once. A heaved patio or a broken walk can be added through concrete removal in Taylors, and the stump of the oak that was dropping limbs on the garage roof can be ground through stump grinding in Taylors.
The line Jordan does not cross is the house itself, or any building that needs asbestos abatement or a licensed demolition contractor. Old outbuildings with cement-board siding or certain floor tile fall on that side, and he tells you when he sees it. The demolition service page has the full scope.
One figure, hauling included
Send two photos, one of the building and one of the route from the street, with the neighbourhood name. That is normally enough to price it. If the lot has several things coming down, Jordan comes out and looks, and there is no charge for that.
The figure covers the tear-down, the hauling and the cleanup, and it does not grow by the hour once the work starts. For what pushes a price up or down, read what demolition costs. The Taylors page covers the rest of what he does in the area.

What that covers
- Garages and workshops. Roof first, then walls, loaded as they come down.
- Decks and porches. Boards, joists and posts out, including the concrete footings.
- Sheds and carports. Metal, wood or plastic, taken apart and hauled off.
- Slabs underneath. Broken with the breaker, hauled, the hole filled and compacted.

Taylors runs into its neighbours without a sign. Jordan does the same tear-downs in Greer, straight up Wade Hampton Boulevard, and in Greenville to the south. Travelers Rest, Tigerville and Five Forks are all within the same loop. The trip from Tryon is built into the price, so a garage plus a patio makes it worth the drive. The whole map is on the service area page.

You call
You call or send two photos. Jordan looks at the job himself, on the ground or from your photos, rather than pricing it off a guess.

Questions people ask
Not seeing yours? Call (828) 574-4474 and ask Jordan, or read the guides.
Where do I get a demolition permit in Taylors?
Taylors has no town government, so it is Greenville County Building Safety at 301 University Ridge in Greenville. The county has a residential demolition permit application that asks for Piedmont Natural Gas documentation, so start with the gas question if the building ever had gas.
The garage has power and a sink. What has to happen first?
The electric feed is disconnected at the house end by an electrician, not just switched off. The water line is shut and capped. Then SC811 marks the public lines, which takes three working days. After that the garage can come down and the slab can be broken without hitting anything live.
Can you take down a deck without wrecking the lawn?
Mostly. The mini track loader runs on rubber tracks and is lighter than a skid steer, so it leaves marks rather than ruts on firm ground. Wet clay is another story, and if the yard is soft the job may wait a few days. Deck footings come out and the holes are filled.
Is Taylors too far from Tryon for one small shed?
It is one of the longer drives, and that is in the price. A single small shed works best when it rides along with other jobs in Greer or Greenville that week, or when it is paired with a patio or a stump on the same lot. Ask, and you will get a straight answer.
Do I need the slab removed if I am building a new garage?
Not always. If the old slab is level, uncracked and the right size, a new building can sit on it. If it has settled toward the Enoree side or is too small, it comes out and the new one is poured fresh. Send a photo and a note about what is going back and the quote can cover both routes.

Most jobs end up being two or three of these at once, and they get quoted together.
