New septic systems
For a new house, a build on family land or any lot the sewer does not reach. The tank is set, the line is run from the house and the drain field is built where the permit says it goes. If the ground has to be cleared or stumps have to come out before any of that can start, it is the same crew and the same equipment — one schedule rather than three contractors waiting on each other.
Septic system replacement
Tanks crack and collapse, and a drain field stops taking water after enough years. Wet ground over the field, a sewage smell in the yard, or drains in the house that run slow and back up are the usual signs. Replacing the tank, the drain field or both is work we do, and the ground is graded back over it when the job is finished.
Septic repair
Not every problem means a whole new system. A crushed or separated line, a broken lid or baffle, or one part of a drain field that has failed can often be fixed on its own. Tell us what you are seeing and how long it has been going on, and you will be told plainly whether it looks like a repair or a replacement.
The permit comes first
A septic system is built to a permit, not to a guess. In North Carolina that permit comes from the county environmental health office; in South Carolina it comes from the state Department of Environmental Services. The soil on the lot decides what kind of system is allowed and where it can sit. If you already have a permit or a soil evaluation, send it with your enquiry.
Mountain ground and red clay
Slope, shallow rock and heavy clay are what make septic work harder here than on flat sandy ground. Steep lots in Polk and Henderson counties limit where a drain field can go, and clay soils across the Upstate can be slow to take water. Knowing how this ground digs, and having the machines to dig it, is a large part of the job.
What it costs
It depends on the system the permit calls for, how far the drain field is from the house, how the ground digs and whether anything has to be cleared first. Ring (828) 574-4474 or send the details through, and the number you get will be for your lot rather than a range off a chart.
